DUO Cleanser

P&G recently launched an amazing new body cleansing product in their Olay, Ivory, and Old Spice brands. For over 130 years Procter & Gamble has developed innovative products based on the consumer’s cleansing behavior. The latest is the DUO. I love that the DUO combines the clean of a bar soap, the softness of a body wash, and the exfoliation of a puff. It’s the best of all body cleansing worlds.

Olay DUO Cleanser

There are two sides to the DUO. The smooth side of the cleanser softens and conditions the skin. The scrubby side, which is my favorite side, exfoliates and renews the skin surface. Inside, is a soft flexible cleanser that conforms and lathers, all you have to do is add water. This combo with the multi-layered cleansing technology delivers two times better clean than a basic body wash and a puff, which is what I normally use. But the thing I hate about exfoliator puffs if that I never know when to throw them away and get a new one. The DUO’s built-in cleanser indicates when it’s time to dispose and get a new one: when the lather fades, which is up to 30 uses.

Winter Beauty Favorites

I haven’t done a beauty roundup in months! There are so many products that I’ve been using and loving lately.

Last week I shared that one of my top beauty tips is wearing eye cream. One of my favorites is Murad’s Renewing Eye Cream. It’s a luxurious and hydrating eye cream that minimizes dark circles, puffiness, and crows feet. So it does everything I want an eye cream to do. Not only does it treat these aging issues, but it also helps prevent. That’s key.

Along with dry skin and aging comes dry hair. As I’ve gotten older my hair has become so much dryer. Every day I have to remind myself to add an oil or cream to the ends. For years I’ve been a fan of Fekkai’s Brilliant Glossing Creme, which makes the hair shinny and smooth. It can be used as a styling product to keep fly-aways down or it can be used all over for smooth, lustrous hair.

During the holidays I curled my hair and did a little more to it than I normally do on a regular day. To help keep the curls and styles I’ve been using R+co Flexible Hairspray, which has super cool packaging. The Rosy Eyed fragrance actually smells nice, compared to most hairsprays. It helps create volume and hold it without the buildup.

YUNI is an eco-friendly natural brand geared toward the yoga enthusiasts. Even though it was designed with the yogi in mind, it doesn’t mean that it’s only for this group. The convenient Shower Sheets come individually wrapped so they won’t dry out and are easy to take to yoga or the gym. If you don’t have time to shower after a workout or simply want to freshen up, the Shower Sheets will immediately cleanse and deodorize the skin. They’re also great for traveling, camping, and to keep in the car for messy days with the kids.

How to Look Younger

  1. Wear Sunscreen – This is my number one beauty item I would take if I was stranded on a desert island. I’ve been wearing sunscreen every day since I was in junior high. Back then there weren’t as many options and not many options for a moisturizer with sunscreen. I would have to mix my Clinique yellow Dramatically Different lotion with body sunscreen and apply to my face. If you haven’t started wearing sunscreen every day, it’s never too late to start. Plus, it’s so much easier now that it’s in day moisturizers.
  2.  Sleep – I need my beauty sleep. I wish I was the type of person that could survive off of five to seven hours, but I’ve come to the realization that isn’t me. I can survive on seven hours, but eight is best. Not only do I feel better, but I look better. I don’t have bags and dark circles, which helps me look youthful. Like a teenager who gets 10 hours of sleep.
  3. Eye Cream – I’m a big fan of eye cream. Some people argue that it doesn’t work, you don’t need it, and that it’s a waste, but I beg to differ. I have been wearing eye cream since I was 18 and it has done me a good service. You won’t see instant results, but just like sunscreen, you will see the difference in your skin over time.
  4. Healthy Lifestyle – We’ve all heard this one before, eat a well balanced diet and exercise and you will feel better and look younger. Well, it’s true! We all know what our skin looks like when we’ve been eating like crap, it looks dull, lifeless, oily and over worked. Eating a well balanced diet and staying active will benefit you in more ways than one.
  5. Get Happy – Dr. Murad always says that the best facelift is a smile. I love that. And it’s so true. When you’re happy it shows on your face. You beam. You glow. It’s easier said than done: Don’t stress and be happy. But making small steps every day to living a happier life is the best way to feel and look better.

Note: Shop eye creams and SPF moisturizers for a younger looking you!

I kicked in my self-love intentions during winter break and have been keeping up with all of them. WooHoo! One of them is to maintain a strong yoga practice and hiking every week. With the active lifestyle it can sometimes wreak havoc on my hair, leaving it looking overworked and dull. I tried out this new line from Carol’s Daughter made with Rhassoul Clay and have been loving how it makes my hair feel.

The Rhassoul Clay line is the first clay-based collection from Carol’s Daughter, which also includes aloe juice and cactus flower, to draw out impurities, restore essential moisture and add touchable softness. Rhassoul Clay helps to gently draw out sweat and impurities without stripping the hair. It acts like a magnet to remove oil, but is gentle enough to use every day. The new line includes a sulfate-free shampoo, enriching conditioner, and softening hair mask.

New Years intentions

I just looked back at my New Year’s resolutions from last year and I didn’t do any of them. Ha! Maybe it’s because I called them resolutions and not intentions. I’m going back to the word intentions. This year my intentions are less goal and action orientated and are more about self love.

  • Meditate more
  • Be truthful to myself and others
  • Yoga and hiking every week
  • See the positive in things
  • Journal and write every day

Note: I’m starting the new year with lots of self reflection.
